Anthony Sammarco will present an illustrated lecture on “The Boston Irish." He will explore the 19th- and 20th-century people and institutions that were founded by and for the Irish immigrants and their descendants. Many people think that the Irish immigration of the 1840s changed the face of Boston over the ensuing centuries. Generations of Irish in Boston contributed to the fabric of the city's life in business, government, and the church. Anthony Mitchell Sammarco is a noted historian and author of over seventy books on the history and development of Boston. He lectures widely on the history and development of his city.
