Sailing the South Pacific with Sean Meagher

Join Captain Sean Meagher in the Community Room at The Cape Cod Maritime Museum for yet another captivating talk, this time on his travels – captaining the 162’ sailboat Blue Gold and again captaining the Mega Yacht Latitude -- in the South Pacific. Captain Meagher and his crew spent the years of 2008-2011 exploring the island archipelago of Vanuatu, plus the Solomon Islands, Fiji and New Zealand; and went back for another stint in 2016-2017. In 2008, Captain Meagher was hired by a Dutch Family to pick up the family’s 162’ sailboat Blue Gold in Efate, Vanuatu’s main island, and to charter trips to and from New Zealand. In his three years in this part of the world, not only was Meagher’s time spent sailing, exploring and learning about the degradation of coral reefs; but he and his crew also helped build satellite banks for the National Bank of Vanuatu. In 2016, Captain Meagher again had the chance to explore the South Pacific, this time while captaining the Mega Yacht Latitude. “We brought Latitude to New Zealand to have her refitted,” said Meagher. His presentation will include art work and other exciting souvenirs from the islands he visited, as well as a slideshow and video of his time spent in this fascinating part of the world.
