First and foremost, there are 100 miles of splendid public beaches in Barnstable. On quiet north side is Sandy Neck, an eight mile long barrier beach with dunes, beach grasses and marshlands alongside Cape Cod Bay; to the south are the warm waters of Nantucket Sound and popular Craigville Beach; Kalmus Beach, where windsurfing is available; Orrin Keyes or Sea Street Beach and sheltered Veterans Beach welcome residents and tourists alike.

The Cape Cod Summer Baseball League attracts the nation's top collegiate players and provides great free entertainment June through August. Cheer on the Hyannis Mets!
The Cape Cod Crusaders is a professional soccer team with a game schedule that starts in April and ends in July.
In addition to the beaches, fishing and kite flying, the Hyannis area has playgrounds, miniature golf courses, bike paths, tennis & racquetball clubs, golf courses, windsurfing beaches and a bowling facility. There are amusement centers located on Main Street and Route 132. Bicycle path maps are available for sale at the Chamber office.
