Fishing and Boating

If you love to fish or boat, Hyannis is the place for you.
Within pleasant walking distance of Main Street is Hyannis Harbor. At the intersection of South and Ocean streets, you will see Aselton Park, part of the scenic Walkway to the Sea and site of many special events. As you travel this route, enjoy the ambiance of the dock area of Hyannis Harbor at Bismore Park. There, awaiting visitors, are the ferries for the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, as well as excursion and charter boats for daily fishing trips, catboat scenic cruises of the harbor and replica steamboats to carry passengers on frequent site-seeing tours.
There's premier saltwater fishing for bluefish, cod, striped bass and flounder, much within reach of surf casting off beaches and jetties. Cape Cod is located in the midst of a major migration pattern for salt-water fish, which gives us a plentitude of of fishing from early spring until late fall.
Fresh water catches in our many ponds and lakes include pickerel, perch, brook trout, brown trout and rainbow trout. A license is needed for freshwater fishing, and is available at the Dept. of Natural Resources.
